How to Save a Video From a Mobile Device

Videos recorded on your mobile device are often too large to email to yourself. In order to get them off of your mobile device to use in your class, you can either upload it to YouTube or Google Drive. The instructions below will walk you through both methods for both Android and iPhone. It is recommended that you use your Maricopa account as you have unlimited storage.

Upload a Video to YouTube from an Android Device

1. First, you should make sure you are logged into your Maricopa account.

2. Open the YouTube app on your device

3. If you haven’t signed into YouTube, tap Sign In. If you are signed in, tap your profile picture.

4. Tap Switch account.

5. Click the plus icon (+).

6. Type your [email protected], and tap Next.

7. Tap Accept to acknowledge you are going to your Maricopa account.

8. Enter your MEID and password and tap Sign In.

9. You should now see your Maricopa.edu account with a checkmark next to it.

10. Return to your video on your mobile device, tap the Share icon.

11. Tap YouTube.

12. Tap Allow to give YouTube access to your video.

13. You can check that your account is selected by tapping your name next to A. Scroll down for more options.

14. Type the name of your video (B). Select the privacy as Unlisted (C) so it cannot be found in an Internet search. Tap Upload (D) when you are finished with the settings.

15. Your video is now uploading to YouTube. It will take time to finish based on how long your video is.

16. To obtain the link to your video, tap the three dots next to the video.

17. Tap Share.

18. Tap Copy link and share it.

 

 

Upload a Video to YouTube from an iOS Device

1. Open the YouTube app on your device.

2. If you haven’t signed into YouTube, tap Sign In. Type your [email protected] and press Next.

3. Type your MEID and password, and tap Sign In.

4. Once you are logged in, tap the X in the upper left corner.

5. Tap on the camera icon.

6. Tap Upload Video.

7. Tap Allow Access to allow YouTube to access your videos.

8. Tap OK to allow YouTube to access your photos.

9.Tap OK to allow YouTube to access the camera.

10. Your video is uploaded.

 

Upload a Video to Google Drive from an Android Device 

1. Open Google Drive on your mobile device.

2. Choose your Maricopa account. If you are not logged in, tap Add another account and follow the YouTube instructions above.

3. Return to your video on your mobile device, tap the Share icon.

4. Tap Google Drive.

5. Tap Allow to give Google Drive access to your video.

6. Type the title in the Document Title field. Choose the folder you want to put the video in, and tap Save.

 

 

Upload a Video to Google Drive from an iOS Device

1. Open Google Drive on your mobile device.

2. If you are not logged into your Maricopa account, tap Add another account.

3. Type your [email protected], and tap Next.

4. Enter your password, and tap Next.

5.Enter your MEID and password and tap Sign In.

6. Tap the plus (+) icon.

7. Tap Upload.

8. Tap Photos and Videos.

9. Tap Settings.

10. Tap on Never to change the setting.

11. Choose Read and Write and tap Drive to leave settings.

12. You will need to repeat Steps 6 through 8.

13. Choose the video you wish to upload and click Upload.
